JOY
WHITLOCK:
We don’t really have a “tradition”, so to speak. We usually
get together with my sister and her family and grill and spend the day together.
FRANCESCA
BATTISTELLI:
My mom and I always
make blueberry muffins for my dad on Father's Day. They are his favorite!
SARAH
KELLY:
All of us kids get together at our house in Rockford, IL, and we all cook
my dad a dinner. And my mom gets a break too. My big brother grills out,
my sister makes the side dishes and I make the desert . . . cheese cake
every time!
TRICIA
BROCK BAUMHARDT (Superchick):
Our dad loves cards. I guess we're a love letter language family. So my
dad kept every note or card we've ever given him. We don’t always
get to be together since we travel so much of the year, but we always try
to make sure dad gets a card from us on Father’s Day. It’s
the simple things sometimes that let people know we love them.
SHANE
BOWERS (Julian Drive):
His best advice was to treat people as you’d want to be treated.
He’s
a beloved and respected man by many. I owe my “half glass full” attitude
to him.

Share Their Father's Day Traditions
by Tracy Darlington
Do
you have a favorite tradition you and your dad do every Father's Day?
You’re
not the only one. We sat down with some of today’s top musicians
and they shared theirs.
DUNCAN
PHILLIPS (Newsboys):
Make sure I get lots of presents. That's it! (Laughs) No, we don't really
have any Father's Day traditions yet. My kids love their daddy, and I'm
sure my daughters will love to go with their mommy and buy something,
'cause that's a thrill for them. They're true women in that sense. They
love buying stuff. Any chance for a party!
SARAH
REEVES:
My dad is a definite neat freak! Ha ha. So he always says, “All
I want for Father’s Day is a clean house.” So every Father’s
Day, we make the house shine for my dad, then just spend time with
him and the rest of the family.
PHILLIP LARUE:
Talking with my dad in his backyard. There is a small stream that runs
through the yard and we will get lost for hours in conversation talking
about God, my marriage and so forth. I love him greatly and I feel
so blessed that we have walked through our past to get to now. He has
become an incredible friend and I can sincerely say that without him,
I wouldn't be doing music today. I really look up to him and feel blessed
to call him my father.
AYIESHA
WOODS:
My favorite Father's Day Tradition is trying so hard to find a gift
for our Dad. The thing is, it seems he has EVERYTHING, so we never
know what to get him! lol So it has almost become a tradition - "FATHER'S
DAY GIFT HUNT!"
MATTHEW
WEST:
My dad loves sports, so we would always try to catch a ball game. I
remember hanging out at Wrigley Field watching the Cubs with my dad
on Father's day. I'm a relatively new dad, so I guess we are still
building our own family traditions, but with two beautiful little girls,
Father's Day will never be the same...
MEREDITH
ANDREWS:
Ever since I can remember my dad would always say to me, “Meredith,
the Lord will only give you what He can trust you with.” We’ve
talked countless times about what this means, and I have learned from
my wise father that we must be faithful to God in all seasons with
what He has given us, small and great alike. Because of my dad’s
advice and example, I am more keenly aware of the honor and responsibility
I have to carry the Gospel to everyone I meet, to walk in integrity,
and to be faithful to my faithful God in all things.
