There You'll Find Me by Jenny B. Jones

"Jenny B Jones' writing is the Lindt chocolate of Young Adult novels. Smooth, satisfying and memorable, always leaving you much to savour."

Talented, funny and fiesty, eighteen year old Finley Sinclair heads to Ireland on a moving mission ~ to visit the places her brother Will wrote about in his personal journal and rediscover the enthusiasm for life that she lost when he died. Finley hopes that Ireland will inspire her to complete her composition piece for an upcoming audition at the Manhattan Music Conservatory and honour the brother she admired so much.

Strategically seated next to Beckett Rush, teen acting sensation, by an enthusiastic airline hostess who fails to understand Finley's abhorrence of all things Hollywood, she finds herself pulled in by his authentic charm while repelled in equal measure by the life he leads and choices he makes. Beckett is drawn to Finley, intrigued by her disinterest in him and determined to show her the sights of Ireland, his birthplace. As Finley unlocks the secrets of Will's journal, meets a dying old lady embittered and angry, she is confronted by cracks in her own life that begin to spiral out of control. Desperate to hide her pain, Finley searches for truth, explores her burgeoning feelings for Beckett and tentatively seeks the God Will adored, praying Ireland and its people will provide the answers she seeks.

Jenny B Jones' writing is the Lindt chocolate of Young Adult novels. Smooth, satisfying and memorable, always leaving you much to savour. There You'll Find Me is a captivating and deeply moving story of a young girl attempting to come to terms with the loss of her beloved brother and discover her place in the world. Jenny has such an authentic voice, capturing teen angst, bravado and depth so well in addition to painting beautiful word pictures of Ireland and its people. The relationship that Beckett and Finley slowly forge is appealing in its genuineness as Beckett attempts to shed his Hollywood persona and show Finley he is "real boy". I adored Finley's attempts to connect with an embittered old woman and the way that storyline developed. Jenny's trademark wit and directness is ever present creating moments of laughter and heartfelt emotion. A tender tale with appeal to readers of all ages, There You'll Find Me is a must read novel of 2011. I love Jenny's adult stories but now having delved into her YA fiction, I'm heading to my daughter's room to find her stash of Jenny B Jones' novels!
