"...a comical romance with quirky characters that you’re sure to enjoy."
Grant has a heart as big as the state of Texas. He grew up an orphan and is determined to provide a home for as many orphaned children as he can find and care for. He has four now, but when the Orphan Train stops with two leftover children, he doesn’t hesitate to take them, even if the townsfolk think he’s crazy. Grant knows what it’s like to be an orphan and doesn’t want any child to have to go hungry or suffer because they have no parents.
Hannah Cartwright is sure that Grant uses orphans as slave labor on his Texas ranch. She takes a job as the town’s schoolmarm so she can keep an eye on Grant. Something isn’t right with the strange man, she is sure of it. She’s determined to not let any orphans endure what she did when she was forced to toil long hours for the cruel man who took her in.
But the more Hannah gets to know Grant, the more she sees how much he cares for his orphans. Maybe he truly does have the welfare of the children at heart. Just as Grant begins to steal her own heart, Hannah sees him carrying on with the town’s dressmaker. Devastated, she gets on her high horse again. If it’s the last thing she does, she’ll make sure that Grant’s orphans are safe, even if she has to take care of them herself.
