An unmarried man adopts two street urchins, but is there room in his heart for one more?
Texan Zack Kahler has spent the past few years in New York learning the ins and outs of the newspaper business, but now he’s ready to return home and take over the reins at the small press in his hometown. Three days before he leaves, he slips on the ice, and two charming red-headed street urchins offer to help him. He’s amused that the tiny twins, no more than six, could help a man his size, but once he’s on his feet, he realizes the wily youngsters have stolen his wallet. A chase ensues, and Zack quickly catches the thieves. He learns they are orphans staying at a nearby children’s home. With his wallet intact, he lets a friendly policeman usher the twins back home, but he can’t get them out of his mind. Three days later, he’s on his way home to Texas with his two adopted children.
Halfway home, the twins, Curly and Charlie, tell Zach a secret that totally shocks him. He wonders if he’s doing the right thing. What other secrets do the twins know? And what does he know about being a father?
Back home, Zack is thrilled to learn that Chloe, a woman he used to go to school with, is working at the boarding house where he and the twins are staying. Chloe has grown from a scraggly youngster into a beautiful woman. Zack can’t help being attracted to the kind woman who quickly grows to love his children. With a newspaper to run, and learning to be a father to two ex-street kids, Zack has his hands full, so why does Chloe intrigue him so? Is it possible there’s room in his heart for another person?
