"...re-introduces its audience to the re-invigorated, re-imagining of this quartet, and it is simply REFRESHING!"

In a year that saw shake-ups, re-working and reunions of some established CCM groups (from the Newsboys showcasing new touring lead singer in former DCTalk and Tait singer, Michael Tait to Point of Grace now a trio and Creed reforming its original line-up), Avalon is now down to its last original member (Janna Long) and has stretched its wings and did not play it safe by of its 9th studio album aptly titled Reborn.

As stated in the lyrics of its titled song "Reborn", "...everything inside my soul has been crying out for something more…” Avalon has delivered a new project that gives its audience much more by way of the lush harmonies that we were first introduced to coupled with a lot of musical chances for an Avalon album. This project is the first to feature newest member Amy Richardson and the first full-length project for her husband Jeremi Richardson.

"Reborn is really a fitting title because it signifies the birth of something new and exciting, which is certainly true of the current season of Avalon,” explains an exuberant Janna Long. “We signed a new record deal earlier this year and found ourselves planning a fall tour, which meant a new album in between. It was a really exciting whirlwind that forced us to all get in gear and give it our best.”

From Janna’s vantage point, Reborn will give the dedicated a new twist on the group’s renowned formula, while expanding their appeal to a much wider audience than ever before. To help with the transformation, Avalon has united with producer and CCM artist Ian Eskelin (All Star United). Eskelin having worked with such artists as Krystal Meyers and Stellar Kart is more familiar in the Modern Rock arena, but Long says Reborn is reflective of a “…pivotal change and evolution. The vocal standpoint is consistent witht the Avalon sound, but the rest is much more varied.” For a group that has been around some 13+ years, this choice may have seemed strange but turned out to be necessary. The result is simply stunning.

True to form, the Avalon harmonies are ever present, but a nice surprise is the use of overlapping the harmonies in the songs "Free", "California" and "Alive". Just take a listen to the song "Angels" and try to remember that you are listening to Avalon.

Avalon’s Reborn re-introduces its audience to the re-invigorated, re-imagining of this quartet, and it is simply REFRESHING!
